A Good Body by: Eve Hensler The "A Good Body" is an excerpt from Eve's perception. This explained the standard in society in terms of beauty. Eve was so obsess to have a nice figure because she believe that if she has a good body, many of her fellow will like and admire her. She even admire the model girl in the magazine. She claimed, that girl is her nightmare because she want to be like her, looks beautiful with her sexy and nice body. At the end of the excerpt, I learned that having a fat or chubby body can not lower down our dignity and prosperity as an individual. Don't too obsess to have a sexy body, you do everything just to own a nice figure. Thus, you encountered struggles that might bring us into despair and anxiety. It doesn't matter if we are thin or large, because what matters most is on how we take good care of our soul. I realized, too much obsession in physical appearance is not really good at all. Soul first before anything else. For a sou...
Silk by: Alessandro Baricco This excerpt really reminds us the term "love at first sight" but it's not exactly the right term to me. Love is a process of understanding, being committed and selfless. Love can't be feel in just a moment. It's not love it's just infatuation. Herve Joncour and the girl are attracted to one another and they show it through actions to not let Hara Kei know it. The girl have already a partner and Joncour is just a foreign who smuggle silkworm from Japan and bringing it outside is considered crime. But then again, their feelings are revealed through their intense eye contact. Being in love at first sight is not really a measure of true love. It's just an ability of our heart to admire other people because of their looks, attitude, styles, and even wealth. Love is felt without any reason, or what so-called as unreasonable love. I also realized how important trust is. It's nice to be trusted, but in this excerpt, it shows...

MALINCHE by: Laura Esquivel "Malinche" is an excerpt which focuses on Malinalli as an interpreter. Malinalli or also known as Malinche leave his God to serve Hernan Cortes who giver her the name "the tongue" because of her intellectual when it comes to interpreting different languages. She is genius of many language. Everything seems to be so easy for her. Yet, she always make sure that every word she interpreted is exact since it might change the essence of what she is talking. And there it comes the argument between her and Cortes which become her partner about her religion and likewise. She burst into tears while walking out for what she found out. Cortes is not interested on her religion nor herself, all he wanted was her country's treasure which broke her heart into pieces. I have realized not to trust someone you barely know. Some can be your enemy so be careful who you trust with. Some is not really interested for who you are maybe they are just ...
A Low Art by: Margaret Atwood     The "A Low Art" from Canada was written by Margaret Atwood is an excerpt from the story "Penelopiad". This tells the relationship status between the main character and her husband, and how the main character overcame and handled her husband's mistakes.     Penelope was the main character in this story. She was a martyr kind of wife because despite of many wrong doings of her husband against her, she still chose to be silent and did nothing but to remain as a wife on him. Though she was being deceived many times by his husband still she loved and accepted him with all of her heart. Odysseus was not completely in love with Penelope for the reason that he might betray her again and again, incompatible of what Penelope felt on him.     At the end of the story I realized that love can really make people blind. Love can make us fool. Love can break wonderful heart. Love can destroy everything you have and everything you a...
The Valley of Amazement by: Amy Tan "The Valley of Amazement" written by Amy Tan is an excerpt from USA. This excerpt talked about the child named Lulu who has an extra finger. Lulu's grandmother wish to take away her extra finger for the reason that it might become a hinder in achieving her dream, to be a pianist. Even her pianist teacher adviced her to undergo operation. It is for her own good, as her teacher claimed that there are few pianist with 1 hand and five fingers, but none in 2 hands with eleven fingers. So, if she want to achieve her dream she need to sacrifice a thing/s. At the end of the excerpt, I realized how hard to reach a star especially when we are not destined to that star, simply because we are not meant for it. But, it doesn't matter what kind of disability or shall I say hinder we have, what matters most is on how we are going to overcome or give solution to our problems in terms of reaching our stars, our dreams. Life is full of sacrif...
