A Low Art

    The "A Low Art" from Canada was written by Margaret Atwood is an excerpt from the story "Penelopiad". This tells the relationship status between the main character and her husband, and how the main character overcame and handled her husband's mistakes.

    Penelope was the main character in this story. She was a martyr kind of wife because despite of many wrong doings of her husband against her, she still chose to be silent and did nothing but to remain as a wife on him. Though she was being deceived many times by his husband still she loved and accepted him with all of her heart. Odysseus was not completely in love with Penelope for the reason that he might betray her again and again, incompatible of what Penelope felt on him.

    At the end of the story I realized that love can really make people blind. Love can make us fool. Love can break wonderful heart. Love can destroy everything you have and everything you are. And love can cause so much heartaches and pains, but love can also makes us stronger and braver. Yes, it is hard to be in love, you can do everything in the name of love because love conquers all. If there is love, there is pain, actually they are twins but they don’t come together.

Silk by: Alessandro Baricco This excerpt really reminds us the term "love at first sight" but it's not exactly the right term to me. Love is a process of understanding, being committed and selfless. Love can't be feel in just a moment. It's not love it's just infatuation. Herve Joncour and the girl are attracted to one another and they show it through actions to not let Hara Kei know it. The girl have already a partner and Joncour is just a foreign who smuggle silkworm from Japan and bringing it outside is considered crime. But then again, their feelings are revealed through their intense eye contact. Being in love at first sight is not really a measure of true love. It's just an ability of our heart to admire other people because of their looks, attitude, styles, and even wealth. Love is felt without any reason, or what so-called as unreasonable love. The strangeness of beauty introduced the culture in Japan which is the arrange marriage and it emphasize the characters Chie and Kan. The process of arrange marriage would be finalize with the help of the go between or the matchmaker who will receive a fee in providing background of the potential mates that are well educated and rich. Chie and Kan with their parents and relatives met in a tea house. That placed will be the center of their agreement. Until such time that Kan's uncle directly pointed Chief as naughty girl and he seems to not like her. Chie's parents are so disappointed and decided to go. If Chie and Kan are interested with each other they should not let their parents ruin that. Happiness must be followed, enjoy life.
